TREASURER'S HOUSE
A few metres from the cathedral, this medieval house and its gardens are the testament of an enigmatic magnate named Frank Green. Owner of the place between 1897 and 1930, he creates thematic rooms from his wonderful array of antiques: crystal glasses, biblical embroideries, rococo mirrors or classic paintings from the 16th to the 18th century... Legends of Roman ghosts, anecdotes about the lives of servants and stories of royal visits are told. In Edward VII's apartments, pajamas remind us how impressive his size was... In the basement, the Below Stairs Café is a well-known tea room.
