Timetable

There are no uniform rules on the schedules of monuments and museums. Most of them are open on weekends and close on Mondays, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays (for the Kremlin, for example). They usually open at 10 am and close between 4 and 6 pm. Check the timetables on their sites each time.

To be booked

It is advisable to book in advance for most of the museums and monuments on their respective sites. The Kremlin and Lenin's mausoleum are particularly popular places. Finally, if you want to go to the Bolshoi, book several months in advance when their program is published.

Budget & Tips

The paying museums cost an average of 500 RUB, or about ten euros. The price range is between 100 and 1,000 RUB

Free of charge: the Congress Palace of the Moscow Riding School and the Museum of Industrial Culture. In addition, all museums have one free day at their discretion during the third week of each month: check their websites.

Main events

The must-see events in Moscow are the New Year's Day festival held from mid-December to mid-January, the Great Patriotic War festival and its military parade on May 9 and Moscow City Day on September 19

Bolfest is a young rock festival held in early July and is THE festival of contemporary Russian music

The city offers a wide range of friendly private tours. We recommend the classic bus tours of the city and a boat tour on the banks of the Moskva River to get your bearings.
