TREVISO WALL

Ramparts resulting from a defensive system sheltering in the keep of the underground courses and embrasures, partly preserved.
Wanted by Venice to defend itself from the armies of the League of Cambrai, the walls of Treviso are the result of an ingenious defensive system developed by the Franciscan Fra Giocondo (known for his activity as a plumber and military engineer). The work was completed in 1517 with the construction of three doors. Nowadays, only underground paths and embrasures in the keep testify the past of this fortification. At its feet, you can find a very pleasant walk, with a break at one of the seasonal guardhouses.
