Erected for the Barbaro brothers by Andrea Palladio between 1550 and 1560, surrounded by a large park, the villa is a perfect example of a holiday residence of this period. Palladio draws on antique and classical references, inspired by models of villas from the Roman period. From 1559 to 1560, Veronese was involved in the realization of the interior decoration. He carried out a very important cycle of frescoes, one of the most accomplished in the region in the 16th century. The cruciform room of the villa, decorated with stuccoes and colourful frescoes, is a real gem.
