DUOMO E SALA DEI BATTUTI
Gothic church with remarkable paintings, an altarpiece and frescoes in Conegliano Veneto.
The original Gothic building was remodeled in 1756 according to neoclassical canons. Restored in the 1950s, it has regained its original appearance. Inside there is a painting by Palma il Giovane and one of the most beautiful altarpieces by Cima da Conegliano(Sacra Conversazione, 1492). Through the passageway under the bell tower, one reaches the Sala dei Battuti (the room of the beaten), built between the 14th and 15th centuries, whose walls are covered by a cycle of 27 frescoes representing scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
