TORRE BISSARA
A remarkable tower in Vicenza, the highest in the city.
This sublime brick tower also called Torre di Piazza is the highest building in Vicenza. 82 m high, built by the Bissarri family in 1174, it was raised in the 14th century by the City of Vicenza which had acquired the property. The day after a bombing in 1945, it suddenly woke up without a bell tower... Now rebuilt, it has the particularity of ringing every day in staggered order, seven minutes before noon and seven minutes before 6pm. The bells are then tuned to play in concert a melody similar to that of our belfries.
