CAPITANIATO'S LOGGIA
A remarkable building designed to host the Capitano cittadino in Vicenza.
An unfinished work by Palladio, who created the covered arcades in 1571, the building was intended to house the Capitano cittadino, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice in Vicenza. It is characterized by its colossal columns with composite capitals and its decoration in stucco and statues evoking the victory of Lepanto. For the anecdote, during the victory of the Squadra Azzura in the 2006 World Cup, the trophy was exposed under this Loggia for four days. Vicenza was the first city in the country to touch it.
