CONTRÀ PORTI
Street lined with a series of buildings in Venetian Gothic style and several admirable Palladian palaces.
This street, so characteristic of Vicenza (contrà is the abbreviation of contrada, "street" in Vicenza dialect), is lined by a series of buildings in Venetian Gothic style with painted windows and decorated balconies. There are also several admirable Palladian palaces, such as Palazzo Barbaro (no. 11), Palazzo Thiene (no. 12) and Palazzo Iseppo da Porto (no. 21). Next to No. 15 of the street, don't miss the plaque that pays homage to Luigi Da Porto (1485-1529), a Vicentine writer famous for being at the origin of the legend of Romeo and Juliet.
