ROMAN CRYPTOPORTICO
Perfectly preserved cryptoporticus consisting of three galleries used as a deambulatory.
On the right wing of the cathedral square, architecture lovers can visit an exceptional vestige of the Roman era. It is a perfectly preserved cryptoportico, a rare example of its kind in northern Italy. Part of an ancient patrician dwelling that was built between the end of the first century BC and the first century AD, this monument consists of three underground galleries. It was used as a storage place but also as a walkway, because it was cool in summer and protected from the cold in winter.
