PIAZZA DEI SIGNORI
Square with a remarkable statue, the political and administrative center of Verona in the Middle Ages.
The square was the political and administrative center of the city in the Middle Ages. Its buildings are connected by 14th century arcades. In the middle of this agora stands the statue of Dante, a writer for whom Verona was a fabulous source of inspiration. On the right is the Palazzo della Ragione, a 12th century building that preserves a courtyard with a Roman portico, where a grain market was once held, and an exterior staircase in Gothic style. Note that the famous Torre dei Lamberti is part of this beautiful architectural complex.
