Situated along the waterfront, this charming vintage hotel offers comfortable dormitories and private rooms.

This hotel is the best you'll find at this price. Set along the waterfront in a former cookie factory, the dormitories are extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bar/lounge/reception area is one of Reykjavik's most popular venues, hosting a wide variety of concerts in a great atmosphere. Retro 60s decor, hearty breakfast and unbelievable silence at night! A must! Please note: even in a private room, you'll have to use the shared bathroom facilities.

This boutique hostel exceeded all expectations with its captivating blend of industrial-chic interior design and quirky Viking-inspired elements. The bar was a standout feature, boasting a stylish ambiance and expertly crafted cocktails that delighted the senses. Overall, it provided a truly memorable and unique stay experience that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an extraordinary getaway.

What an amazing view from out the windows. Location was a few minutes walk from center of town. The service was perfect.

Listen, this is a hostel. So please adjust your expectations to a hostel when I’m telling you this place is five stars.
Here’s why it deserves 5 stars:
- the beds are comfy. They’re full thickness mattresses and the pillows are a perfect level of fluff. The duvets are warm but not too warm, and there aren’t any bedsheet stains. The beds here are better than at HI hostels.
- the rooms are secure. There are locks on each room that only those with the room key can access, and there are lockers inside the room big enough for quite a lot of things. They’re full sized - picture school lockers. You do have to bring your own lock.
- the beds are private. There are dividers between the beds and curtains for the lower bunks.
- the hostel naturally fosters really cool social activity. Be sure that you’ll meet cool travellers and probably make a few new friends to go on adventures with.
- the staff were amazing. They were so helpful and good at problem solving. They are vigilant about washing the bedsheets as new travellers go through.
- there are lots of bathrooms with tons of hot water and good water pressure.
- the kitchens are well stocked and there is lots of shared fridge space. They provide labels for you to label your food. There are also lots of “free food” shelves if you’re looking for that!

Here are the downsides:
- it can be loud. Ear plugs are free at the front desk but if there’s a band playing you’ll hear it.
- the bathrooms do have mold in the grout.
