FOSSVOGUR CEMETERY (FOSSVOGSKIRKJUGARÐUR)
Cemetery playing an important commemorative role where we find a square reserved for French sailors
To the south of Perlan lies the Fossvogur cemetery, replacing the Suðurgata cemetery in the town center, which had become too small by 1932. This sloping cemetery, with its lawns and shrubs, is a haven of peace slightly removed from the town center. The cemetery also plays an important commemorative role, with a plot reserved for French sailors (Franskir Sjómenn - section B18), as well as monuments to soldiers who fell in the First and Second World Wars.
