TOWN HALL (RÁÐHÚS)
City Hall covered with foam at the entrance, to find tourist information
Inaugurated in 1992, the new town hall(Ráðhús) stands on stilts on the northern shore of Lake Tjörnin. Concrete, glass and metal shine in the sunlight. Note the moss-covered concrete blocks with portholes at the entrance. Inside, you'll find tourist information at the Visit Reykjavik headquarters, temporary exhibitions and small markets, and above all a huge relief map of Iceland, which is a pleasure to browse through to get a feel for the complex geography of this great country, at the beginning or end of one's trip.
