HÖFÐI HOUSE
White prefabricated house in Norway in 1909, built to accommodate the first French consul
Located on Sæbraut, with its back to the ocean, this white house found itself in the forefront of world news in 1986 during the Reagan-Gorbachev summit. Prefabricated in Norway in 1909, it was then built on this site to accommodate the first French consul. After having also housed the poet Einar Benediktsson (1864-1940) it was renovated by the municipality to become a conference centre. Touched by a fire in 2009, the year of its centenary, it was repaired without too much damage. Please note that it cannot be visited.
