MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
Antenna in a large harbor building with a permanent collection dedicated to Erro in Reykjavik
This branch of the Reykjavík Art Museum, opened in 2000, is housed in a large harbour building (Hafnarhús), which is rather plain on the outside. The building dates from the 1930s and was renovated in 1998-2000. It is arranged on several floors around a rectangular courtyard. The interior design is very pleasant: wood, glass, raw concrete, metal. The permanent collection is dedicated to Erró on the theme of portraits, while the rest of the collection highlights, in the form of temporary exhibitions, the great and not so great names of the local art scene.
