Smell out front of restaurant was debilitating.
We barely wanted to go in….
Food and wine was awful. Service was to be desired. Left hungry and running to the car to avoid the smell.

We had a very good time, we tried the Icelandic Feast and it was delicious. I also like the blueberry mead and it's awesome the fact that it's served in a horn.
I didn't give the 5th star because we went to celebrate my husband's birthday and I'd have appreciated to get sort of a greeting card or something to make the event special, knowing the high price you have to pay for eating here.

I won't go back because honestly would have been appreciated to take into account of these kind of details regarding the service.

I cannot say that I would recommend it. I was with a party of 4, and everyone gave below average meal scores. We also originally sat for a while and no one came to our table, we had to ask at the bar how to order food and someone was then sent over to serve us, but after that service seemed fine The atmosphere was good.

One of those place that rely only on their ambiance to thrive. The building and its decoration are great but I'd avoid the food at all cost, too bad for a restaurant right ?
We had the icelandic meat & cheese share plater. Few nuts & crackers, tasteless cheese, some horrible raw smoked lamb meat, cured horse was good though.

Then the main, smoked cod. Oh my.. I'm still wondering how they cooked the fish because that was one of the weirdest fish I ever had. Tasteless, weird texture, I could have eaten plastic, I won't be able to tell the difference.

I ran as soon as I finished.

What a fantastic experience. From the building itself to the interior decoration and drinking mead from a horn, it all takes you back to the Viking era. Friendly staff and unique food. Strongly recommended.

Great experience and food. They have kids menu. We have booked in advance but it was not full (we came out of season). We had lamb and duck ????. They have alcohol free drinks and beers

We had a great time while eating here. We went on a Monday night and it was about halfway full and we saw multiple parties come and go while we were there. The service was great and staff was knowledgeable about the menu. I had the mead served in a horn and wife had a local IPA. Only possible negative is that the beer didn’t come in the horn as my mead did when we figured it would. (May just have to ask).

Meat and cheese board was good, the lamb was extremely smokey, even for smoked meat. All the cheeses were excellent.

I had the lamb entree and my wife had the duck and both were fantastic.

They have Viking gear available for you to try on if you’d like and the restrooms were very clean and well kept.

When we come back to Iceland and find ourselves in the area we will definitely be back.

Prachtig restaurant helemaal in Viking thema. Wij hebben hier heerlijk gegeten. Absoluut een beleving die je niet mag missen!

Worth a visit! The place it’s cool itself, but the food was very tasty too! We had there the best dish from our entire stay in Iceland.

Incredible Viking Feast Menu in a lovely atmosphere. All of our group were blown away by the taste of the food. Spectacular!

Very cool experience to dine in a viking long house.

Service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we went and took the staff about 10 minutes to greet us and an additional 5 minutes to seat us, even though we had a reservation and there were at least 15 empty tables.

The food was good. A really great place to try Icelandic lamb!

Unfortunately, the place I most wanted to try ended up being so disappointing due to the rowdy young men allowed to drink excessively at the bar. One stripped down to underwear to take photos with Viking gear. When we complained to waitress who stood and talked with them for 10 minutes while we waited for her, she said they were leaving. However, after some more time, they served them another pint each which they took outside ; let them take swords and axes to the earby target range. We asked to speak to the owner and we complained and told them how unsafe it was and inappropriate for children to witness. Plus one of them would have to drive drunk.
They were outside being reckless.
We offered to pay for little we had consumed so far but the owner told us we didn't have to. He apologized but didn't think they were responsible for the men's behavior. We said that they shouldn't have served them more beer and should have made them leave.
As we left, he followed us outside to range where the
Men were beating the target with something and he spoke to them... but we left.
I think that the food and atmosphere would have made for a special evening.....
This is something that can be monitored better for the good experiences of everyone.

I came here because I wanted to drink from a horn and enjoy a real Viking experience. We were surprised to find that on a Saturday night it was very slow and there was no entertainment. I was given a shot to drink from a horn, but nobody ever told me I could have ordered a beer that would have been served in a much larger horn. That would have been much preferred over a shot.

Fortunately, the lamb was absolutely delicious! I don’t have a lot of experience with lamb, but I’m willing to bet that future meals won’t compare to this one. It was so good that we also decided we must try dessert. I got the banana bread, which was kind of a let down.

Overall, I’m glad we came here. The staff is very friendly. I just wish they would have told us more about the place. Apparently they had some Viking gear that you could put on and take photos? Not sure if that’s true, because no one said.

Very beautifil viking restaurant. The staff is superfriendly and the food is really good. We drank mede out of horns. For starters we took the vegan harvest. As main course we wanted the oan fried char but it was soms out. My huisband took the lamb and I tooj the chickpeasteak.
Everything was delicious.
You can also buy a horn to take home.

visited start of February and ordered 2x lamb Fillets. One was of good quality and the other was not so great with a lot of fat. We informed the waitress and they were apologetic but did not offer a discount nor a new piece of lamb. The concept of the restaurant itself is great, there are also Viking helmets etc you can put on for photos. We drank an alcoholic beverage and a Coca Cola out of two Viking horns. Prices are as expected for Iceland. Would recommend for a unique Icelandic experience.

Really unique Restaurant with an amazing ambience! We felt like we were dining with the vikings.
Easily the best food in iceland. Yes it is expensive, but damn, that food is extraordinary. Highly recommend

We had the viking feast, and the steak with its sauce stood out as extra delicious. But everything was really really good. Also loved the bread and mead.

This is the most amazing restaurant we have eaten at our entire time in Iceland, and we have been here a long time!!! The owner served us, and he was the nicest person as well!!! We had caribou that the owner hunted himself, salmon that the owner fly fished himself, the most amazing smoked lamb, the duck leg that was so juicy and fell right off the bone, and a mead that went with everything. I feel like my life has been fulfilled after eating there. We found this place by accident and it ended up being the most amazing place I've ever been, and I am a well-traveled food snob!!! I felt it necessary to go out of my way to leave this place the most stellar review because each dish was absolute perfection!!!! Even the fermented shark was absolutely delicious!!!!! Thank you for the most wonderful experience!!!

Staff was very nice and the food great. But it was still a bit overpriced, even for Iceland.
