The refuge is located on the west bank of the Svartá River and can accommodate 30 people. It has a kitchen and sanitary facilities
Hvitarnes Hut is the oldest hut run by the Ferðafélag Íslands Association. Built in 1930, its grassy roof is protected for its age! On the spot, a capacity of 30 people, kitchen and sanitary facilities. Remember to take your rubbish with you! The refuge is located on the west bank of the Svartá, a river which also feeds Hvítárvatn and which must be crossed by one of the two fords, the southern one being easier. From the refuge, you can access the lake.
