KELDUR
Kedlur a few kilometers northeast of Hella, located at the beginning of the Fjallbaksleid, with an old sheep sorting yard
Twenty kilometres northeast of Hella, at a place called Keldur, at the beginning of the Fjallbaksleið Syðri, there is an old sheep yard made of volcanic stone. A little further on, another sheep yard is still in use in the autumn after the great gathering of sheep that have spent the summer on the pastures in Landmannalaugar. Keldur is also an important historical site. The National Museum of Iceland has excavated the peat farm, and part of it dates from the 12th century. A nice detour to make on the road if you have the opportunity.
