Landmannalaugar is surely one of Iceland's most scenic areas, a labyrinth of multicolored mountains. This desert landscape is the result of acid volcanic activity, the most abundant rock being rhyolite. The site lends itself magnificently to hiking, with numerous marked trails. The best-known is the hike from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk, but the area is teeming with other excursions, so ask the wardens for advice. Day trips are also available by bus from the capital.

Une des plus belles journée de notre séjour ! Nous avions un 4*4 pour pouvoir aller sur toutes les pistes. Nous avons voyagé au coeur de ses montagnes, un ravissement ! Les paysages changeaient à tout instant devenant de plus en plus beaux avec des couleurs superbes mêlées au noir de la cendre et au vert pomme de la mousse.
Immanquable !
