HÁALDA AND BRENNISTEINSALDA
Mount Haalda with an unmarked trail, one of the most beautiful mountains in Iceland with sandy slopes and yellow rocks
A hike allows you to go up to the top of mount Háalda (1089 m) by the east ridge, to go down by the south side on an unmarked path which goes up to the rhyolitic dome Brennisteinsalda (865 m), one of the most beautiful mountains of Iceland with sandy slopes and yellow, brown, red, purple rocks... At the foot of this hill, several solfataras and fumaroles. From the top, you can see the mountains of Suðurnámur, with their ochre and orange hues, and, very close, the Bláhnúkur.
