Bláhnúkur, sometimes spelled Bláhnjúkur, literally means "the blue peak" (940 m). The ascent to , a rhyolitic mountain with black, blue-grey and dark green slopes, is made by one of the three unmarked paths that follow the ridges of sand and scree. From the summit, there is an incomparable view of the surrounding area: the desolate Jökulgil valley, the bright yellow Norður Barmur rhyolite mountains, other rhyolite domes to the south, the Brennisteinsalda, Laugahraun... The height difference is 340 meters, relatively accessible to all. Departure from the campsite.
