HOTEL FLJÓTSHLIÐ AND SMÁRATÚN FARM ECO LODGES
For three generations, the farm has been run by the same family as Disa, who took part in the TV show Echappées belles.
Smáratún Farm is located in the agricultural area of Fljótshlíð, near road no. 261, 10 minutes from the village of Hvolsvöllur and road no. 1. For three generations now, the farm and hotel have been run by the same family, represented today by Disa, as you may have already discovered in the program Échappées belles. The farm covers no less than 300 hectares. Potatoes, rhubarb and green vegetables are grown on site, but the main focus here is on cattle and sheep rearing, with animal welfare as a central concern. In fact, here the cattle live in freedom. On the hospitality front, Hotel Fljótshlíð on the Smáratún farm offers a range of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes, from camping to comfortable cottages for up to 6 people, guest rooms in small huts and 14 classic hotel rooms of good standing. On site, the Barn restaurant proudly serves Nordic dishes based on farm-to-table produce. Open to all for breakfast and dinner, it is one of the few restaurants in the country to have been awarded the Nordic Swan eco-label. Rewarded for their efforts to become an almost zero-waste and ever more responsible hotel, the hotel proudly displays its Ecological label, highlighting its waste management and recycling, use of natural cleaning products and wastewater control and sanitation, use of resistant and noble materials, protection of local flora and fauna, and choice of locally sourced products and goods. As part of its commitment to environmentally-friendly tourism, the hotel offers guests the chance to plant trees (nearly 4,000 have already been planted!), and provides travelers with electric cars with a charger to ensure they can continue their trip around the island in complete peace of mind.
Finally, to make the most of this magical natural setting, Disa and the staff are delighted to offer a whole range of daytime activities to give you a real experience of the farm and local life: various hikes, birdwatching, horseback riding, lamb watching, horse care, fishing on Lake Smáratún... there's something for everyone. An unforgettable stay!

En revanche pas de douche en hiver pour les campeurs, d'où la petite étoile en moins comme tous les autres campings qu'on a faits ensuite proposaient des douches.
