Very warm place with a very well equipped campground, very pleasant shower and sauna

An ideal place to satisfy all needs and budgets, with different types of accommodation: camping, glamping in cosy equipped tents, cottages and dormitories, all with access to sauna and hot tub. The place is very warm and well-designed overall. Meals are available in the evenings; the budget is a little high, but the portions are generous. Several hiking trails start from the hill behind the service chalet. Good to know: their website is a gold mine of information on hiking in the region.

Schitterend gebied met de voor IJsland zo kenmerkende landschappen. De weg erheen is zeer avontuurlijk. Je gaat over een ruige onverharde weg met flinke kuilen en moet diverse keren door het water rijden. Je kunt er alleen met een speciale terreinauto komen. Wij hadden gereserveerd voor een speciale bus die je vanuit Reykjavik in de ochtend erheen brengt en op het einde van de middag weer op komt halen. Vanaf de hut kun je diverse prachtige wandelingen maken. De routes zijn aangegeven met kleuren en zeer goed gemarkeerd. Er is bij het startpunt ook een klein winkeltje met drank en kleine snacks.
