Beautiful little island, we loved it here. The campground is right by Elephant rock. The campground had a good sized kitchen and community area, lots of bathrooms and showers, very kind and laid back staff. They weren't super busy and we were able to cook meals here. The campground has some simple indoor sleeping rooms for campers when the weather is bad.

Uno dei camping più validi di Islanda. Docce calde, ambienti comuni riscaldati e cucina ben fornita. Host super gentile. Sicuramente il camping più accogliente

The worst customer service if not only in Nordic countries. You don’t go to camping place for customer service but what if you need really help? We live in 2023, it’s not anymore womens fault that they wear mini skirts or are basically women. Let me explain: I got an stalker, a totally random person who I didn’t know and didn’t want to get to know, when I arrived in the island (I am female traveling alone). First the staff (female) told me to call police since I was concerned about my safety, but then started to comment my situation as ”there is always two sides of the story” etc, I am a customer that is worried about her safety and I get this kind of comments. Keep them to yourself please. She was telling me that she doesnt want any problem in the camping ground that could I go somewhere else. Could I go somewhere else to die? Okay! Now I am the problem? I am a person asking for help from the staff and I am asked to leave? Is this how situations are handled nowadays? Not in the Nordic countries! When I tell this Polish worker to give me her bosses number - as I wanted to inform her boss about her behaviour - she tells me that I am rude towards her and wont give it to me. Basically starts gaslighting me. Please get better staff. Staff shouldn’t comment customers situation like this when a customer is scared about her safety when a random guy searches her from the internet and locates her. This is not customer service. Or humanity.
I talked with the police and police handled the situation well and was super nice - but the staff in this camping - horror. We all know what can happen when a female is legit stalked. It’s not ok to ask her to leave or start blaming her. All I first asked was if I could relocate my tent to the other camping ground, calling police was good idea from her but the rest of her behaviour was very bad. And it’s not that cheap camping either compared to other places in Iceland. Not still definitely paying for the service a single penny obviously. There are no two sides when other person steps over other persons boundaries by stalking her. Stalking is illegal. This is not Soviet Union, this is a modern country where things are taken seriously.
