Church located in the village of Reykjahlio, a stop to be made during a route

The village of Reykjahlíð, which is very lively in summer but a bit deserted in winter, has an interesting building: its church. The original building survived the terrible eruption of Krafla in 1729. The lava flow destroyed the village, but stopped a few meters away from the church. The lava flow can be seen clearly at the Hlið campsite. The building was rebuilt in 1972, but it has lost none of its charm and authenticity. Don't miss the interior, very well decorated. A must-see on your itinerary.
