VETI CREATER
Lake located at the foot of the Krafla volcano, filled with a beautiful blue lake, which contrasts with the surrounding anthracite lava flows
At the foot of the Krafla volcano (818 m) opens the explosion crater Víti, "the hell", born in 1724, and now filled with a beautiful bluish lake, which contrasts with the surrounding anthracite lava flows (not to be confused with the Víti crater of Askja). A spectacular landscape that must be earned, because if the hike around the crater is easy, it is often exposed to a strong wind that would almost make us fall into the waters of the lake. So be careful! Count about 20 minutes for the tour. Access by 4x4 on the asphalt road 863.
