KRAFLA
One of the youngest and most active volcanic areas of Iceland, where you can admire the important geothermal activity of the area
Krafla is one of the youngest and most active volcanic areas in Iceland. From Námafjall, road 863 leads to two car parks from where hiking trails start. The bus passes Krafla, but does not stop long enough to allow a satisfactory visit. At a height of 818 m, you can admire the important geothermal activity in the area. You can also see the Krafla power station. Don't hesitate to take your free and naturally heated shower on the side of the road 863: unusual and unmissable.
