The most beautiful of the many volcanoes, an explosive volcano culminating at 420 m in Myvatn

Hverfjall is probably the most beautiful of the many volcanoes scattered around Mývatn. It looks like a very high pile of gravel... It is an explosive volcano culminating at 420 m, with black sand slopes and 2 500 years old. Two steep paths, with a difference in level of 100 m, lead to the summit, another one goes around the crater whose diameter is a little more than 1 km. From up there, there is a superb view of the lake. Count on 45 minutes to an hour to go around it (3.2 km), depending on whether you take a break or not. By car, access via route 848, south of Reykjahlíð.

A FAIRE ABSOLUMENT ! Magique !!!
