A labyrinth of permanently snow-covered mountains, located in Askja
Behind the Dreki hut, you can go up Drekagil, the "dragon's gorge". A river flows between the large walls and ends in a beautiful waterfall. The round trip takes about 30 minutes, and the hike is accessible to most people, without any great sporting difficulty. The caldera is a labyrinth of mountains permanently covered with snow. Remember to take good shoes and dry socks for the return trip as it may be necessary to pass through the creek. A nice little detour to make!
