ALDEYJARFOSS
A waterfall surrounded by basalt columns located in the northern highlands of the river and a waterfall at Sprengisandur
In the northern highlands of the Skjálfandafljót river, this waterfall surrounded by beautiful basalt columns is a must-see. Although relatively low (20 metres), the setting is impressive. The milky-blue torrent of water contrasts with the black basalt columns that cut straight lines through the rock. The waterfall is located at the start of the F26, 43 km south of Goðafoss, and is accessed mainly via route 842, then the F26 track to the parking lot. A 4×4 is required to cover the track.
