The owner was out of town when we arrived but the Ja Ja Ding Dong curator was around and he helped us get our keys and also get into our room. We had a corner room upstairs with an awesome view of the harbor. The room was clean, cute, and cozy. Bed and sheets were comfy. My only wish is that we had been able to visit the Ja Ja Ding Dong museum, which was temporarily closed during our stay. Many places were due to a snowstorm. The whale museum in town is a must! I would gladly stay here again.

Excellent value for the money!

I highly recommend staying at the Husavik Cape Hotel! I was a guest here in mid May 2022 during the Eurovision Finals and Grand Final plus local election night.

Travelling Internationally, during the time of Covid and rapidly changing rules, I had booked after corresponding with Orly online for a 6 month period prior to our stay. Upon arrival Henrik & Frank gave us a very warm welcome and even a complimentary upgrade to a lovely room with a fantastic view of the harbor and city. During the stay they were courteous, professional, responded quickly to requests for assistance and provided valuable local advice. Furthermore, they made us feel like close friends or members of the family. I will return to Iceland and Husavik, along with recommending a trip to all my family and friends predominately because of their fantastic hospitality.

It is an older hotel that has recently been renovated and remodeled. The rooms were exceptionally clean, light and well presented. The beds are comfortable, and the blankets kept us perfectly content with the changes in weather. May is Spring, so we had a wide range of conditions during our stay. The Blockout curtains will help you sleep during those Midnight Sun nights or if you had a big night. Breakfast was included with our booking, it was a nice way to start each morning prior to our adventures!

Breakfast was served in the adjoining Jaja Ding Dong which has delicious Pizza and Tiramisu served later in the day and through evening when it is open as a Pub. You will also find the Eurovision Museum here, covering both the fun movie currently on Netflix & the European Song Contest, with of course an Icelandic focus. Jaja Ding Dong was popular with both locals and travelers alike and is a perfect meeting point of place to unwind each night.

Staying at the Husavik Cape Hotel is very convenient and puts you in walking distance of pretty much everything in town plus the relaxing GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths overlooking Skjalfandi Bay and the Arctic Circle. It is possible to see whales from the hotel, (seriously we did!) and while sitting in the hot bath. You can also book tours for Whale & Puffin sightings through several tour operators including Gentle Giants who have both rib speedboats and traditional Icelandic oak boats. Visit Husavik and TravelNorth.is are great sites to check for all kinds of information and fun activities to do during your vacation. One of my favourites was the Husavik Walking Tour - The Story of Fire Saga with Gunnar as our guide. Seriously, watch the movie before you come to stay and you will love it even more!

Husavik Cape Hotel is a fantastic jump point for other local adventures. We hired a 4x4 and did a variety of day trips including a Volcano Crater Hike, a Coastline mini-road trip sampling local bakeries and restaurants, Met and photographed Icelandic Horses and newborn lambs, Visited Museums including The Whale Museum, Historic Churches and more.

Frank was great to deal with prior to our visit, I loved his emails.
Proved to be a good place to stay, just keep an eye on the floor drain, ours overflowed onto the bathroom floor as we were emptying the basin

Great location to head down to the whale watching tours, good enough rooms, friendly staff, and of course the awesome Eurovision museum!

Tende poco coprenti. Stanza posta all’ingresso del ristorante adiacente

We had an amazing night in this hotel, the persons working there were all lovely. The room was spacious and very clean, the bathroom had a bathtub and was also very clean. Really well situated in the city centre with a beautiful view on the harbour.
Would definitely recommend stopping there if you’re staying in Husavik!

Spent 3 nights in late May. This place is not fancy but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, they supply coffee and tea in the room and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The manager helped us with dinner reservations and told us about a large hot spring we could visit. It is a short walk to downtown for restaurants and whale watching tours. The breakfast was good and the "breakfast lady" was a super friendly Italian woman. They use glacier water for cold with is fresh tasting and thermal water for hot which has a sulfur smell. You get used to it. The only improvement I could suggest is to construct the curtains to block the light coming in from the sides. It never gets dard in late May

Great hotel, super nice workers who gave us a free upgrade and best room in the hotel (201). Definitely the best place to stay in Husavik and within walking distance of everything to see in the town.

I cannot rave about this hotel and staff enough! I booked the hotel in January for a stay in May. In March, my boyfriend asked if we could upgrade our room from the standard to the one with the view and they let us pay the difference when we arrived at the hotel instead of paying for two rooms like some hotels do. Henrick, the owner, was working the front desk when we first arrived. He was charming, funny, informative, and went out of his way to make sure that our stay was spectacular. We had some perishable food in the car because we were staying at hostels around Iceland on our cross country trip. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, so Henrick let us keep our food in their kitchen fridge which was so nice of him. We were disappointed to find out that the Jaja Ding Dong bar next store had recently changed its hours from 12-17:00 as we had arrived at 18:00 to the hotel. Jaja Ding Dong was also bought out that night for a retreat, so we had to wait until the next afternoon to go to the bar which was no big deal. Henrick suggested that we go up the hill to Geosea to enjoy some drinks and the view at the geothermal pool which we did. Thank you Henrick!

The next day we visited Jaja Ding Dong and saw the amazing Eurovision exhibit. Ana was working and made the best focaccia I’ve ever tasted! She’s Italian, and uses the only the best family recipes! It was the week of the real Eurovision Song Contest, so Ana invited us to come back the next evening for a viewing party at the bar. After being invited, we changed our plans for the cross country trip and stayed in Akureyi that night and came back to Husavik the following night (instead of driving to our next hostel much further west in Iceland) to stay at the Cape Hotel and watch Eurovision at Jaja Ding Dong. It did not disappoint! Henrick gave us the room with a view for no extra cost (as I booked a regular room) and was so excited that we came back to watch Eurovision with his crew and stay at his hotel again. He also arranged for us to get a complimentary drink and focaccia at the bar which was so sweet. I would definitely stay here again and you should too! 12 points to Cape Hotel Husavik! (If you don’t get the reference then you need to watch Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga on Netflix or you know, watch the real Eurovision on tv ????
