SVARFAÐARDALUR
A nature reserve and birdwatcher's paradise, located in Dalvik
For hikers, from Dalvík, the cul-de-sac Route 805 enters the Svarfaðardalur valley, a nature reserve and birdwatcher's paradise, and further on lies the wilderness of the Tröllaskagi peninsula. The trolls were cruel giants who dwelt among these jagged peaks, rocky crevices and rushing torrents. Jutting out between two great fjords, Eyjafjörður and Skagafjörður, the Tröllaskagi massif, the "troll peninsula", rises to an altitude of over 1,500 m, with its glaciers and precipices.
