It is a waterfall that runs around 1 km where water flows under a lava field and then pours into the Hvítá River. Hence his name Hraun (lava). The contrast of the black lava with almost translucent water is superb. Just above Hraunfossar following the trail is another more powerful waterfall, Barnafoss, which can compare to a series of rapids. His name means «the fall of children», in memory of two children who venture into a natural ark and drowned while their parents were at Christmas mass. The mother decided to destroy that ark so that this accident would not be renewed again. To recover from your emotions, there is a café-restaurant on the site.

Jolie balade
