ST. MARTIN DE VER CHURCH

This is a very beautiful eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth century's Romanesque church. It still has its eleventh century bell tower on 5 floors which was never remodelled despite a landing that passed very close. During the bombings, all its stained-glass windows were destroyed and thanks to a subscription of Mr and Mrs Dewey (he was inspector general of the Marshall Plan), they have been restored. Moreover, looking up, one can distinguish the escutcheons of France and the USA on the Sacré-Cœur window. As recognition, Mr Dewey was made citizen of the city in 1949.
