BRITISH NORMANDY MEMORIAL
Magnificent site facing the sea of Ver-sur-Mer, paying tribute to the fallen liberators under British command in the summer of 1944
On June 6, 2021, 77 years after the D-Day landings, the British Memorial of Ver-sur-Mer officially opened its doors. Facing the sea, this grandiose site pays tribute to the 22,442 liberators who fell under British command in the summer of 1944. The names of the victims, mainly soldiers, airmen and Marines, are engraved on majestic stone columns. The project was initiated by a veteran, George Batts, and the Normandy Memorial Trust, based in London.
