VICTORIAN CASTLE
The Castle of Vizcaya is a private property, acquired by the family of the Emir of Qatar
Unfortunately, the Vizcaya castle cannot be visited. It is privately owned, and recently bought by the family of the Emir of Qatar. Its happy new and former owners jealously keep it for themselves! The castle was probably built around the 16th century, before being purchased by Pierre Aumont in 1798 who turned it into a stud. At his death in 1836, Pierre-Alexandre, his son, inherited it and founded a real race stable. The castle has been listed as a historical monument in 1927. The castle as well as the stud are listed.
