The church of Villerville replaced a sanctuary in the 12th century. The bell tower remains from this period. It was enlarged in the second half of the 19th century when the "foreigners" (as Parisians were called at the time) came in large numbers during the season. The architect then designed a nave of disproportionate height, undermining the harmonious lines of the small church. Let us note the return of the famous Blessing of the Sea which aroused the fervour of the Villervillais in the 19th century.
