A must in Munich to discover local products: the famous Viktualienmarkt market.
Originally a farmers' market and herb market, the Viktualienmarkt is now a place where you can find absolutely everything, from wine to flowers, fruit and vegetables, charcuterie... The square was created in 1807, when the Marienplatz became too small to accommodate the farmers' market. The central part of the square is also home to a number of pleasant refreshment stands. Numerous events take place here throughout the year: the opening of the asparagus season, Gardeners' Day, the women's dance on Shrove Tuesday...
