What if you went on a quest for a big white worm, by digging in the trunks of bancouliers? I promise, you'll love it!
In the heart of the small village of Farino located just above La Foa. This festival honors the worm of bancoule, a large white worm which may seem unappetizing, and which feeds on the soft and humid wood of the bancoulier. On the program: contest of "digging" in the trunks of bancouliers, followed by the contest of the biggest worm eater. This beetle larva can measure up to 10 cm. Once a year, it feeds the bravest ones who devour them raw, sautéed in pastis or "maître d'hôtel" butter. From 8 hours.
