Chapel with numerous votive works dedicated to the sea and its sailors
Built against a 15th-century manor house, the Chapel of Gonneville, known as the Chapel of the Sailors of Blainville-sur-Mer, was founded in 1050, but the present building dates from the 14th century. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and to Saint Philibert, the patron saint of sailors. Its shape is simple and original at the same time, as it is slightly disproportionate to the bell tower, which is very small. It was here that mass was held before the departure and after the return of the terre-neuvas. In the chapel, there are many votive works dedicated to the sea and its sailors.
