THE BRICQUEBEC CASTLE
A visit to the ruins of the old castle, the commemorative museum, Field Marshal Montgomery, and the pyramid.
It’s the town’s landmark: the castle’s foundation stone was laid in the 11th century. Built on a small hillock and partly owned by the town, its 13th-century crypt is now an exhibition hall, while the ruins of the former château have been listed as a historic monument since 1840. The museum commemorates the visit of Queen Victoria in August 1857 and that of Field Marshal Montgomery in 1957. To mark the year 2000, Pascal Morabito’s pyramid of memory has been erected in the château’s courtyard.
