FRESCOES OF THE CHURCH
A magnificent fresco retracing the legend of the hanged man and the history of the roads to Santiago de Compostela.
The 16th century frescoes in the church of Canville-la-Rocque were only discovered in 1982. They recount the legend of the "hanged man" which has accompanied the history of the roads to Santiago de Compostela for centuries. It was at the beginning of the 1980s that the municipality and the Monuments Historiques undertook to remove the whitewash from the chapel, which enabled the whole of these magnificent frescoes to be brought to light and identified. They are part of the remarkable religious heritage of the area.
