Notre-Dame de la Délivrande church, located in La Glacerie, is a Catholic place of worship in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. Built between 1842 and 1846, it is famous for its stained glass windows, which depict the town’s industrial history. Created by master glassmaker Michel Petit, eight of the twelve windows tell the story of glassmaking and the role of the men who created the Manufacture Royale des glaces à miroirs. The older glassmakers’ chapel, built between 1667 and 1669, was the gathering place for factory workers after mass. The church of Notre-Dame de la Délivrande is a historic place of worship that bears witness to the region’s industrial past.
