Budget & Tips

There are a number of good spots to run in Lausanne or do other sports activities. Good running or cycling tracks can be found along Lake Geneva, from Ouchy and towards Pully or in the other direction, towards the EPFL campus. There is also a nautical base near the school. At the town's tennis club, it is possible to rent tennis or paddle courts even without being a member.

What's very local

The stand-up paddle on the lake, don't leave without doing that! Or hiking in the wilderness.

Your documents please

The French licence is accepted everywhere. So there is no need to bring an international licence if you plan to rent a motorhome.

Main events

The Lausanne Marathon takes place every year at the end of October (also available as a half-marathon, 10 km race and Nordic/walking event). From Lausanne to La Tour-de-Peilz, along the lake and through the Lavaux vineyards. The setting is spectacular.

Lausanne's sports facilities do justice to its title of "Olympic capital".

If you feel like it, you can also take part in the Lausanne 20 km (also available in much shorter distances) between the lake and the city.

You can also take part in the Urban Trail, which takes place every year in March - the next one on March 17, 2024 (choice of 18 or 31 km) on a beautiful route, from the city to the heights or through the forest, depending on the length of the trail chosen.

For these events, remember to register well in advance, as they are very popular.
