MÉTRO D'ALGER
Inaugurated in 2011, the Algiers metro has just one line in operation, but it's still under development. Extensions of this line to El Harrach, Place des Martyrs and Aïn Naâdja were inaugurated in 2018, and three new extensions are under construction, including one that will lead directly to the airport, scheduled for delivery in 2026. The metro passes through central Algiers, meaning that you can cross the whole of Algiers by metro, which is good news when you consider the city's traffic jams. The network is set to be extended by two further lines.
