In the past, the slaughterhouse district of Algiers was very popular with Algerians for its many chouwayine (rotisseries). The slaughterhouses are no more and the majority of the rotisseries have been razed but there are only four of them left which still propose good skewers accompanied by French fries and hmis (salad of peppers, tomatoes and peppers) served at any time! We strongly advise you to come there, it's good, fast and cheap!
