Built in 1660 for Hanafite Turks, the El Djedid mosque is also known as the Pêcherie mosque. It is one of the few buildings not to have been destroyed when the French redesigned the Marine district. Its originality lies in its Latin-cross architectural plan, reminiscent of a church. Inside, the minbar is marble, while the mihrab is adorned with earthenware tiles and plaster moldings. Its harmonious lines and immaculate whiteness make it a fascinating religious edifice.
