BURDEAU BRIDGE BUILDING
This building, erected over a ravine, is a stroke of architectural genius, responding to the constraints of Algiers' steep terrain.
Designed by architect Pierre Marié in 1952, the Burdeau bridge-building is part of Le Corbusier's urban planning and architectural approach. It is one of those architectural strokes of genius that respond perfectly to the constraints of Algiers' steep terrain. Erected over the Burdeau ravine at the level of the boulevard Krim Belkacem loop leading to the Robertsau district, the bridge is also the roof of an apartment building. There are only two such structures in the world. Visible from the boulevard Krim Belkacem loop.
