BALCONY SAINT-RAPHAEL / EZ-ZAHIRA
This superb natural belvedere perched on a high cliff in Algiers offers panoramic views over the bay.
From the top of the cliff on which it is perched, this superb natural belvedere offers a breathtaking panorama of the Bay of Algiers. Owned by the Swedish consulate, which used it as its gardens, the land was then acquired in 1913 by the Claridge company, which was planning to build a hotel on the site. The project never came to fruition, and the land, then classified as a picturesque site, was ceded to the Algiers town council in 1928, which developed it into a terraced public garden.
