It's the work of French architect Léon Claro, heir to the movement initiated in the early 19th century by Henri Klein, founder of the Comité du Vieil Alger. Commissioned by the Governor General for the Centenary of Algiers in 1930, the architect created a replica of the traditional house in the Casbah. The "maison indigène", as it was also known, allowed the French to discover the different spaces and decorative elements of an Arab house.
